10 Jahre Tripmaster-Ersatztasten – eine kleine Geschichte
(English version below)
Warum?

10 Years of Tripmaster Replacement Buttons – A Short Story
In 2016, a motorcycle friend came to me with a problem:
The switch covers on the Tripmaster of his Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin were worn and damaged. This was not only annoying, but it also made it easier for moisture to get in – which could cause long-term damage to the sensitive electronics. At the time, and even today, these covers were not available as original spare parts or from any accessory supplier.
He asked me if, as a model maker, I could create a solution.
I took on the challenge, built a mold, searched for suitable material – and in the end, a 4-piece set of replacement covers was created.
What started as help for a friend, I later listed in my online shop – without knowing what would come of it.
Soon, orders arrived from all over the world. What still makes me especially happy: in all these years, there has not been a single complaint, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
One question kept coming up:
“Are the buttons available in gray?”
For a long time, my answer was: unfortunately, no.
Why? The material is not available in the required gray – the color has to be mixed each time. Achieving a consistent shade of gray repeatedly is very time-consuming and hardly reproducible. That’s why I deliberately chose black in 2016, even though I was never fully satisfied with it.
For the 10th anniversary, I tried again to make gray buttons.
With a lot of patience and effort, it was possible to achieve a very similar gray tone consistently. Not an option for a normal small series – since the replacement covers are still in high demand worldwide – but perfect for a limited edition.
