i used to dread walks. not because i don't love my dog — because i'd come home with a sore shoulder and a dog who learned that pulling = forward. every walk made it worse. i tried the "stop and stand still" thing. tried treats. tried a head halter she hated. tried three different harnesses. turns out none of it was the issue. the clip position was. all those harnesses clipped on the back, which is the one spot that lets her pull with her whole body. switched to a front-clip from Pawvel and the first walk genuinely felt like a different dog. when she lunges now the harness just turns her back toward me. no yanking, no fighting. she's calmer because she's not winning the war anymore. wish someone told me two years ago it was never about her.
