MY HUSBAND Christopher Cavill presented A RING to Rowena Grant—his childhood sweetheart. But this time, I couldn't care less. I APPLAUDED COOLLY. Christopher FROZE. I tossed my wedding ring aside and turned to leave. Christopher chased after me, panic written all over his face. "Yelena, let me explain. It's not like that. Rowie and I are innocent." I pushed his hand away, "You're a good match." "I'm not with her! Why can't you believe me?" he insisted, his voice rising. "Christopher, you're a grown man. This isn't a good look." His face went pale. Perhaps realization hit him then. Six months ago, when I'd caught him and Rowena entering a hotel together and confronted him, this was exactly what he'd said to me. Now, the roles were reversed, and the hurt in his eyes was unmistakable. I ignored him and simply walked out of his sight. Chapter 1 At our seventh wedding anniversary party, Christopher Cavill presented a ring to Rowena Grant—his childhood sweetheart. I applauded coolly. In response, Christopher berated me in front of everyone. "I'm just messing around with my friend. Why are you being so petty? If Rowie and I really had feelings for each other, you wouldn't have ended up marrying me." He stormed out in a rage. That same night, Rowena changed her Instagram profile photo to a sweet pic of her and Christopher holding hands. Before, I would've rushed to her place, dragged Christopher out, and demanded to know whether he loved me or not. But this time, I couldn't care less. --- Christopher didn't come home until the next day. When he came in, I was cleaning up the mess in the backyard. Yesterday had been our seventh wedding anniversary. He once said, "Everyone says the seven-year itch is unavoidable, but I don't believe that. "When we hit seven years, we'll invite all our friends and family over. I want everyone to see how happy we are." Because of his promise, I'd started preparing for our anniversary party three months in advance. Every evening after work, no matter how exhausted I was, I forced myself to learn how to bake, mix drinks, and cook dishes I had never attempted before. Yet, the party I poured everything into became a stage for Christopher and Rowena to flirt. He even stayed out all night for her. "What happened to your hand?" Christopher noticed the cut on my index finger and asked casually. "I cut it while cooking yesterday," I replied. He scoffed. "You can't even handle something this simple. Tell me—can you do anything right?" The old me couldn't stand having the slightest flaw in his eyes. One sharp remark from him would have been enough to spark a half-hour argument, followed by an almost obsessive pursuit of perfection. But now, I was too tired to say even one extra word. As if sensing my displeasure, Christopher bent down and took my hand. "I'll do it." I pulled away. He stubbornly followed, refusing to let go. During the struggle, I tripped over a stool. He laughed. "Geez. How can you be so clumsy?" I said nothing, my brows knitting together as a wave of pain surged through me. That was when he finally noticed the blood between my legs. He quickly pulled me up. "I'll take you to the hospital!" The pain in my lower abd0men was severe, and a bad feeling settled in my heart. I didn't refuse. The moment we entered the hospital lobby, we ran into Rowena. Her face was pale as she leaned weakly into Christopher's arms. "Chris, my stomach's acting up again. It hurts so much." He held her, then turned to me. "Guess you're just on your period. It's nothing serious. Just go get yourself checked in. Rowie's condition is bad. I can't leave her alone. I'll take her to the ER." I nodded. "Okay." He paused, frowning at me in confusion. "You aren't mad?" I didn't get it. Why would I be mad? Did I need to make a scene like I used to? But I simply didn't care anymore. Whatever he and Rowena did had nothing to do with me. "If there's nothing else, I'll go check in." I turned and walked away. His footsteps gradually faded, but I didn't look back. Later, the bleeding worsened. A nurse at the triage desk noticed and rushed me to the OB-GYN. The doctor told me that I'd miscarried. "Where's your family? You'll need a D&C procedure. We need a family member to sign the consent form," she asked. I touched my lower abd0men numbly and replied, "I don't have any family." Chapter 2 I signed the consent form myself and went into surgery alone. From the anesthes1a to the moment I fully woke up, three hours passed. Christopher never asked about me once. That evening, when he came home, I was lying on the couch, staring blankly into space. He glanced at the kitchen. "Why didn't you cook?" For seven years of marriage, whenever he came home, there was always a hot meal waiting. Even when I worked overtime, I'd 0rder his favorite takeout in advance. This was the first time he'd come home to a cold stove and an empty kitchen. He clearly expected me to get up immediately. Instead, I said flatly, "If you want to eat, cook something yourself." Christopher frowned and handed me a bag. "I remember you tend to get period cramps, so I bought you some heat packs." I turned my head and met his gaze. "I don't need them. Give them to someone who does." What he didn't know was that ten minutes earlier, Rowena had posted a photo on her Instagram story—a heat pack pressed against her stomach. The hand in the photo was his left one, the one wearing his wedding ring. The photo had already been deleted, but I knew these heat packs were her leftovers. They were just like Christopher, who only came back to me once Rowena no longer needed him. Christopher tore one open anyway, insisting on sticking it on me. I shoved him away. His waist slammed into the coffee table, and his face twisted in pain. "Yelena Swanson, what's wrong with you?" he snapped. "Rowie's stomach condition flared up, and you're just on your period. Don't you know what matters more? Why do you have to blow this up?" I met his anger calmly. "Christopher, it wasn't my period. I miscarried." He froze. Chapter 3 After a long pause, he let out a mocking laugh. "Is this your way of making me feel sorry for you? "Don't forget—we had tests done seven years ago. You were told it'd be extremely hard for you to get expecting. Lying about something like this is disgusting. Don't you feel ashamed?" I once desperately wanted to build a complete family with Christopher. When I learned how difficult it would be for me to conceive, I collapsed in tears. Over the years, I secretly went through countless treatments. Every ovulation cycle, I clung to him, hoping for good news. Unfortunately, there were never any. Ironically, when I finally let go, the child came. Just as cruelly, the day I learned of his existence was the day I lost him forever. Maybe this was a warning—an omen of the end for Christopher and me. I sat up. "Believe it or don't. I don't care." I picked up the heat pack from the floor, tossed it into the trash, grabbed my backpack, and walked out. "Are you running away from home?" he demanded. I answered calmly, "My best friend just moved. She asked me to stay over for a couple of days." Christopher chased after me, his brows drawn tightly together. It was the first time he'd ever stopped me when I left. Before, he'd only watch coldly. No matter whose fault it was, I'd always come crawling back within days. This time, I didn't want to. I walked past him, stepped into the elevator, and pressed close. Half an hour later, I arrived at Lindsay Keaton's place. When I told her about the m1scarr1age, she held me and stayed up talking with me for hours. During that time, I never messaged Christopher, but he sent me a single question mark. I ignored it. The next morning, another message came through. "Breakfast outside svcks." I was still calmly eating, and Lindsay stared at me in disbelief. "I can't believe you didn't rush back to make him breakfast." I smiled faintly and hummed. In the past, one word from him was enough to make me drop everything. Now, I was completely exhausted. Lindsay said sincerely, "You're finally choosing yourself." I stared at the ceiling for a long moment. "Lindy, you're a divorce attorney. What should I do if I want a divorce?" She sprang upright and rattled off a long list of legal terms. I barely understood any of it, but she waved it off. "Just leave it to me." I stayed with her peacefully and didn't reply to Christopher for days. Five days later, my mother-in-law, Matilda Cavill, posted a photo in the family group chat, saying her birthday was coming up, yet hardly anyone had returned early to keep her company. The photo showed the family seated at the table. Christopher was there, and beside him, nestled far too closely, was Rowena. Chapter 4 Less than ten minutes after the photo was posted, Christopher called me. "Lena, don't get the wrong idea. My mom planned this. I couldn't exactly say no, so—" I cut him off, "I know. Anything else?" "You're not mad?" I chuckled and asked, "Why would I be?" Christopher fell silent. After a moment, he said, "This Saturday's my mom's birthday. I'll come pick you up." He hung up immediately, as if afraid I might refuse. On Saturday morning, Christopher arrived at Lindsay's place. As soon as the car stopped, Rowena leaned out from the passenger seat. "Lena, hurry up! We've been waiting forever." She seemed every bit like the lady of the house. In the past, I would've dragged her out of the passenger seat and forced Christopher to choose who belonged there. This time, I simply nodded and got into the back seat. Christopher tightened his grip on the steering wheel and glanced at me through the rearview mirror. I gave a polite smile, then lowered my head and chatted with Lindsay. At the Cavill's residence, I took out the birthday gift I'd prepared. "Happy birthday, Matilda." Then, I sat down and ate quietly. Christopher and Rowena sat on either side of me, leaning toward each other and laughing openly. I stood up. "Why don't we switch seats? It'll be easier for you two to talk." Everyone was stunned. Just months ago, I'd caused a full-blown scene over Rowena insisting on sitting next to Christopher, pointing at her and calling her a homewrecker. No one expected me to say something like this so calmly. Rowena happily slid into my seat. Christopher, however, stared at me darkly. I went to the restroom. When I returned, the atmosphere was warm and cheerful. I heard Rowena say, "Mrs. Cavill, it's your birthday. Why are you giving me a gift?" Following her gaze, I saw Matilda holding an emerald bracelet, fastening it around Rowena's wrist. Christopher didn't stop her, but everyone else looked uneasy. They all knew what that bracelet meant—it was a family heirloom, meant for the daughter-in-law. When Christopher and I married, Matilda had never approved. She thought I wasn't good enough. Years without children only worsened her dissatisfaction. The bracelet was never meant for me. On her previous birthday, she'd already wanted to give it to Rowena. I'd objected to it. When Rowena reached for it, I'd lashed out. We'd both fallen into the flowerbed during the struggle. Christopher hadn't hesitated—he pulled Rowena out first, then turned on me viciously. "It's just a bracelet. Haven't you got enough? Why are you fighting Rowie over this? Have I spoiled you too much? I'll just buy you another one. It's not a big dea1." I caught a cold and ran a fever for two days straight. Christopher scolded me coldly, "Serves you right. That's what you get for being childish." But now, I no longer wanted to fight anyone. I walked over, picked up my bag, and excused myself gracefully. With that, I went home. Christopher arrived moments later, his face dark with fury. "Yelena, know your limits. You disappear for days, and today, with everyone present, you decide to sulk? How can you be so rude?" When I stayed silent, he loosened his tie and sneered. "Are you really throwing a tantrum now? Fine. Let's just get divorced." This was the third time Christopher had brought it up. The first was when I refused a drink offered by his boss and embarrassed him. To make it up to him, I met the boss again, drank until my stomach bled, and begged for his forgiveness while hooked to an IV. The second time was when I accidentally broke a puzzle Rowena had given him. He'd flown into a rage. I'd knelt in front of him, crying and promising it would never happen again. But this time, I looked at him and said, "Okay."

In the third year of his memory loss, Boston billionaire Kendrick Matterson has been caught up in fresh scandals with his new lover. As his wife, I was trapped inside, unable to escape the swarm of reporters at my door. I had to put on a smile and clean up his mess. Everyone said I was Kendrick's most loyal simp—that no matter what he did, I'd never leave. At a single phone call from him, I rushed to the hospital to donate blood to his secretary, Rowena Gilden. He smirked as he took in my pale face. "Even though I don't remember you, you're easy on the eyes and fairly useful. "I won't fall in love with you, so what's the harm in getting married? "But Wena will bear my first child. She gets jealous easily—she needs something to put her at ease." He spoke as if he were granting me the greatest favor imaginable. What he didn't know was that this year marked our fifth year of marriage, and the third year since he'd forgotten me. It was also the final year of my bet with my father. -- When I didn't respond, Kendrick sneered. "What? Are you overjoyed that you can't speak? "Either way, take good care of Wena. As long as she's happy, the wedding will go on as planned." The bitter ache in my heart spread throughout my body. A lump formed in my throat, but I kept my voice steady and asked, "Kendrick, do you truly not remember our past?" Three years ago, Kendrick worked three days straight without getting any sleep, just so he could make it back in time to celebrate my birthday. On the way home, he got into an accident and lost his memory. He remembered everyone—except for me. "Lainy..." Kendrick raised his brows slightly and slowly leaned closer to me. My heart started pounding uncontrollably again. "Have you finally..." With a sharp click, he snapped a photo of me and sent it to Rowena. "All it takes is a few sweet words to get you like this. You look so cheap right now. "If the board hadn't been against me marrying Wena, do you really think I would have wanted to marry you? "You're just a front. Wena's the only one in my heart." My heart ached bitterly. Every nerve screamed in pain, forcing my limbs to seize up. Five years of devotion were discarded as if they meant nothing at all. I took a deep breath, calming myself down. "All right, Kendrick. I hope you never regret these words when your memory returns. "I've never been one to cling to the past. If this is your choice, then I'm done with you. "Even if you crawl back to me on your knees one day, I won't even spare you a glance." My father was one of the most powerful businessmen in Boston, with influence in both legitimate and underground circles. Five years ago, he tried to stop me from marrying Kendrick—and I threatened him with my life. We made a bet: Kendrick's love for me must last five years. If I lost, I would go home and marry the man my father chose. In a week, I would return home as promised. When Kendrick met my icy eyes, his expression betrayed a momentary hint of heartbreak. Just then, a bucket of icy water mixed with disinfectant was dumped over me. Rowena stood with her hands on her waist and snapped, "You really need someone to wake you up. Stop dreaming—I'm the only person Ken loves!" Kendrick suppressed his emotions and wrapped his arm around her. "Why didn't you let someone else do it? If your hands freeze, I'll be worried sick." Rowena pouted. "Well, she was asking for it! She seduced you right in front of me! "Ken, you can marry her, but I can't help but worry. Did you see that look in her eyes? It's like she's obsessed!" Kendrick sighed helplessly. "What's your plan, little troublemaker?" A playful glint sparkled in Rowena's eyes. "Let's make sure she can never bear your children. Unless you do that, I'll always doubt that you truly love me." My eyes widened instantly. ###Chapter 2 I looked at Kendrick without thinking. I only hoped he still had a bit of humanity left. Kendrick raised his brows slightly. "That wouldn't be appropriate. Wena, I've already promised to have my first child with you. You have my word." Tears suddenly rolled down Rowena's face, and she cried pitifully, saying she felt insecure. At once, Kendrick wiped away her tears gently. He then turned to look at me coldly. "Prepare her for surgery." My heart dropped, and a numb ache spread through my body. "Kendrick, are you even human?" Perhaps the pain in my eyes was too obvious, for he quickly averted his gaze, refusing to look at me. "Take her away," he instructed firmly. "Alaina, if you want to marry me, this is the only condition. Haven't you been dreaming of this forever?" Dreaming of marrying him? That was three years ago! In the past three years, he allowed Rowena to humiliate me however she wanted. My heart had gone numb after enduring so much pain. If not for my bet with my father, I would have left the very day he forced me to give up my child for Rowena's sake. I struggled desperately, and for a moment, even the bodyguards couldn't get close to me. Furious, Kendrick injected me with a sedative. Before I passed out, I looked at him desolately. A tear slid down from the corner of my eye. Kendrick's hand trembled like he had been burned, and his face turned pale. The surgery ended quickly. I lay on the cold hospital bed without anyone by my side. When my uterus was removed, the last trace of affection I had for Kendrick vanished with it. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep. Half-awake, I was dragged across the floor and dumped in front of Rowena like a rag doll. She sat in Kendrick's arms, the two of them clinging together intimately. They looked down at me, enjoying my humiliation. "I didn't know losing an organ doesn't hurt much! Look at her, she's still fine! "Why is she pretending to be sick? Is she just trying to avoid giving me a massage? "Speaking of which, my feet hurt terribly." Kendrick smiled helplessly and started massaging her. But Rowena pouted. "No, I want her to do it!" Kendrick merely glanced at me as the bodyguards hoisted me up and shoved me in front of Rowena's bed to give her a massage. The floor was cold and hard. I didn't know how much time had passed, but I observed as the sun rose and fell again. During that time, Kendrick and Rowena even made out right in front of me. The air was filled with so much tension. Feeling sick, I started to gag. However, Rowena kicked me in the face. My head slammed into the coffee table, and blood splattered everywhere. "Ken, look at her! How dare she feel disgusted by us?" Kendrick comforted her while ordering people to drag me away. "Stop being an eyesore here. "Since you're so ungrateful and have forgotten what I said, head up to the rooftop to get some fresh air. You'll clear your mind that way." The incision on my body tore open, and blood trailed all over the floor. I felt like a soulless rag doll being dragged along the ground. Kendrick's mind went blank as several faint images suddenly flashed through his head. ###Chapter 3 Those images flashed by in an instant. He couldn't grasp any of them, and a splitting headache followed. "Lainy..." Rowena grabbed Kendrick's hand as it reached out unconsciously, a dark look flashing in her eyes. "I'm right here, Ken. Were you thinking about me?" Kendrick shook his head. Had he imagined Alaina? Meanwhile, I was thrown onto the rooftop like a dead body. A storm was brewing, and the wind was freezing cold. I wore only a thin and broken shirt, dried blood sticking to my skin as I shivered uncontrollably. But the bodyguards showed no sign of leaving. Instead, they loosened their belts and advanced toward me with clear malicious intent. I became alert immediately. I had nowhere to escape and shrank into the corner, trembling. "Get away! Don't come near me!" Three rough-looking bodyguards grinned, their yellowed teeth exposed as they laughed cruelly. "Ms. Hindley, your skin is so soft. Stop struggling—if you hurt yourself, it'll only ruin our fun. "Don't hate us. We're just following Mr. Matterson's orders. Who told you to upset the woman he loves? "Mr. Matterson personally told us to take good care of you and make sure you enjoy it." Kendrick... I thought I was already so broken that nothing he did could hurt me anymore. But at that moment, my heart felt like it was being shattered again and again. My body trembled from the pain, but they showed no signs of stopping. They grabbed me with their large hands and held me down, tearing my clothes wide open. When I struggled, they slapped me repeatedly until I was dizzy and nearly unconscious. One of them even took out his phone and pointed the camera at me. "How dare you try to resist, you bich? Do you know who you've crossed? Do you think marrying Mr. Matterson makes you his wife? He doesn't even remember who you are!" Another added, "Mr. Matterson told us to record the good stuff. If you ever disobey him, everyone will know how much of a bich you are!" Their disgusting laughter exploded in my ears. I didn't know where the courage came from, but I seized a rock from the ground and struck one of the bodyguards on the head. Blood splattered everywhere. While he was distracted, I didn't hesitate and jumped off the rooftop. When I woke up, the first person I saw was Kendrick, who looked exhausted. I was a little surprised. His eyes lit up, and he was about to speak, but I turned my head away. Kendrick pressed his mouth together. "Stop throwing a tantrum. Locking you up this time was to teach you a lesson. You need to understand who the real lady of this house is. "You're lucky the rooftop wasn't too high up. Otherwise, what would people think of Wena?" So my life didn't matter to him at all. What he truly cared about was making sure Rowena wouldn't be held responsible for my death. It was ridiculous. My voice was hoarse when I spoke. "Just locking me up? Do you know what they were trying to do..." "Ken, you promised I could stand with you guys at the altar. I really love the wedding dress you chose for me." Rowena suddenly appeared and cut me off. ###Chapter 4 She leaned close to me proudly and showed off the diamond ring on her hand. The diamond was massive, impossible to ignore. It was a rare blue diamond worth millions. "Ken spent 13 million dollars on this and had it custom-made for me. "He even designed it himself." I felt a sting in my eyes. After all, I remembered this ring. Five years ago, Kendrick had designed both the ring and the wedding dress for me. He stayed up countless nights to tailor everything for me. He even said he'd make everyone envy me. But we were too poor back then, so everything stayed only on paper. Now, he turned those dreams into reality and gave them to another woman. Kendrick planned to have Rowena stand beside me at the altar as a bridesmaid. When I found out, I didn't know how to react. He remembered everything except me. "The wedding is tomorrow. Clean yourself up, and make sure you put a smile on that face. I don't want you looking like you're at a funeral." After saying such cruel words, Kendrick took Rowena's hand and left. My phone rang just then. "We've finalized your divorce with Kendrick, and the private plane has been arranged. We'll be there at nine o'clock tomorrow morning to bring you home. "Lainy, it's time you listened to me." I nodded. "I'll let you handle it, Dad." After hanging up, I stared out the window, feeling strangely empty. Five years had passed, leaving us hurt and heartbroken. In the end, I withdrew myself from Kendrick's life, taking away my deteriorating body and fading memories. I injected pain relief into myself and forced myself to move. I went back to the house Kendrick and I had bought five years ago, a place that hadn't been lived in for so long I could barely remember. We had bought this for our wedding, and we decorated the place ourselves. Kendrick knew all of my preferences, and he even planted lavender flowers at the door. Yet now, I single-handedly burned all the memories that belonged only to him and me. The blazing fire lit up my face, burning our wedding photos bit by bit. Just like the last remnants of love I had for him. Early the next morning, Kendrick gave me a call. "Wena is jealous and throwing a fit. I need to calm her down. Head over and proceed with the wedding first. I'll be late." I smiled. "It's fine, Kendrick. You don't have to come..." The call disconnected before I could finish. I laughed at my own antics. What was there left to explain? The plane coming to pick me up had arrived. The cabin door opened, and the first thing I saw was a pair of long, slender legs. When I saw that face, both familiar and strange, I froze. Shawn Ingler gave a bright, gentle smile and reached his hand out to me like a gentleman. "Long time no see, Ms. Gilden. I hope you've been well." I came back to my senses, smiled, took his hand, and stepped onto the plane. With that, the plane took off. I took one last look at this familiar city, knowing I would never look back.
