Empowering Young Creatives at the V&A Museum Once again, (it's our fourth year!!), an incredible day was had at the V&A Museum's Upstart Schools Day where Fashion Minority Alliance brought together ten schools, from across London, to explore careers in fashion. Across the day students learned directly from Oscar nominated costume designer Mayes C Rubeo, international athletic apparel brand Gymshark, Vogue Business senior reporter Maliha Shoaib_ and film-and-fashion team Cherif Douamaba and Ottawa Kwami, gaining real industry insights, mentorship and hands-on experience. They sketched, crafted, asked questions, joined panel talks, explored exhibitions, and built confidence and relationships through creative workshops. These moments of belonging, skill building and industry access are at the core of our mission: opening pathways for young people who are often excluded from fashion and beauty careers. Huge thank you to the @vamuseum and all our partners, particularly June Lawrence, Dawn Mason Inc and David Otzen for helping to create opportunities that inspire, empower and transform futures. . . . . . . . Fed up of performative Allyship in the fashion industry? Well, true allyship can exist and one prime example is that demonstrated by Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent and what he was willing to risk. Check out our Blog Post on his personal and professional willingness to make a change regardless of consequences. . . . With quite a few talented BIPOC actors finally being cast for major roles these past couple of years the representation that Brigerton introduced to our screens is exceptional (and very much needed)! One that stands out is Oxford graduate, of Indian-origin, Charithra Chandran. Chandran has openly spoken about her culture and her Tamil identity, as well as the ‘painful’ impact that colourism has had on her. Check out her inspiring interview in the latest issue of Teen Vogue. . . . Video description: the video shows behind the scenes of Chanita's interview for Teen Vogue.
